Develop. Deploy. Code catches fire. FIGHT THE FIRE! Move on. Repeat.
Does this cycle feel familiar?
If so, you’re not alone. Engineering teams around the world are struggling with the complexities of developing and operating real-world, large-scale software systems.
When things go wrong with those systems, it’s the people and the teams who suffer. And all too often, the underlying technical and operational problems never get addressed, leaving your team stuck in a costly, discouraging break/fix cycle.
Enter REdeploy: a conference exploring the concept of Resilience Engineering, also known as RE, and how to deploy it within your organization.
What is REdeploy?
We’re here to explore what it really means to build solid, sustainable infrastructures—not only for our code, but for our organizations and people as well. We all know that we care about the technology, but it’s becoming increasingly clear that we need to consider the impact that these choices have on the people responsible for the technology as well.
REdeploy was born from a passion for Resilience Engineering: the ability of a system to withstand changes in its environment and still function.
We believe teams can not only survive, but thrive, when faced with failure.
If so, REdeploy is for you!

REdeploy is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks.
Be kind and respectful of others. Do not insult or put down other participants. Behave professionally. Remember that harassment and sexist, racist, or exclusionary jokes are not appropriate for REdeploy, or any conference.
Conference participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference without a refund at the discretion of the conference organizers.
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
There are many diverse opinions related to technical, team, and organizational choices. Every design, decision, and implementation choice carries trade-offs, pros and cons, and costs. There is seldom a single right answer. A difference of technology, management, or organizational preferences is never a license to be rude.
Exhibitors in the expo hall, sponsor or vendor booths, or similar activities are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, exhibitors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualized environment.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please notify a member of conference staff immediately. You can submit a report of harassment personally or anonymously, and staff will address it in a timely manner.
You can make an anonymous report here: https://goo.gl/forms/SOpQALKhefYYOmJs1.
We can’t follow up anonymous reports directly, but we will fully investigate and take whatever action is necessary.
You can make a personal report by:
Conference staff can be identified by distinct staff badges. If you can’t locate a conference staff member, please text or call 415-226-9655 to reach a staff member. This phone number will be continuously monitored for the duration of the event.
When taking a personal report, our staff will ensure you are safe and cannot be overheard. They may involve other event staff to ensure your report is managed properly. Once safe, we’ll ask you to tell us about what happened. This can be upsetting, but we’ll handle it as respectfully as possible, and you can bring someone to support you. You won’t be asked to confront anyone and we won’t tell anyone who you are.
Our team will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the conference with no refund.
We expect participants to adhere to the code of conduct at all conference venues and conference-related social events.
Harassment and other code of conduct violations reduce the value of our event for everyone. We want you to be happy at REdeploy -- people like you make our event a better place.
I. I am an attendee at REdeploy, learning from and sharing with other attendees in an effort to better myself and my industry. I co-create the experience with fellow attendees. I am prepared to give my energy, presence and sensitivity to creating the best possible experience for myself and others.
II. I am coming to REdeploy to interact with people. I understand that imagery and language which is suggestive or derogatory will offend and make people uncomfortable. I also understand that people may have boundaries and sensibilities different from my own. I will accept without question when informed that something is offensive or unacceptable in the context of the REdeploy event.
III. I will not intentionally harass or offend another attendee regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, appearance, size, race or religion and will not abide another attendee being harassed or offended. If I am aware that anyone is uncomfortable or unsafe, I will notify those giving offense and the REdeploy event organizers.
IV. If I am offended or harassed, I will inform people around me who make me feel safe and the event organizers. If I feel safe, at my discretion, I will inform those giving offense of the specific actions with the hope that the other party is well-intentioned and ignorant, but I am under no obligation to do so.
V. I understand that people are different and I attempt to be forgiving of others actions at the level of their sincere intent, but my priority is protecting my safety and the safety of others. I will act without hesitation or reservation until there are no question of the safety of all parties.
VI. I trust the REdeploy organizers and attendees will co-create the best possible experience for everyone involved, as will I. I believe REdeploy is about empowering people and I will not forget I, too, am empowered to create a safe and nurturing environment. If I or any other attendee violates this aspect of the event, I expect the conference organizers to protect the attendees by direct action, including expelling those in violation and contacting the proper authorities.
